08-10 December 2017, Cluj Napoca (Kolozsvár), Romania
We are pleased to inform you that the Kós Károly Academy of the Democratic Alliance of Hungarians in Romania (KKA) in cooperation with the Robert Schuman Institute (RSI) in partnership with the Wilfried Martens Centre for European Studies (WMCES) organises a workshop under the title “MIGRATION, INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY AND THE EUROPEAN PEOPLE’S PARTY” in Cluj-Napoca (Kolozsvár), Romania on 08-10 December, 2017. The workshop will be provided for EPP sister parties in Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Serbia and Romania.
Issues of migration – let it be external or EU internal – and of the diaspora/minority communities are sensitive to all EPP parties. It is easy to define them as problematic and to be avoided. Yet this does not do justice to the opportunities that migration also provides in terms of voter dynamics, and it is never wise to ignore the issue. This regional program is aimed at all EPP parties that want to develop forward looking policies on the issue. It does so by focusing on the information challenge: what do we know about migration streams in terms of voter and membership challenges? What are the data, the trends, the possibilities for exchange of information. By focusing on the information challenge, the program will help EPP parties in developing individual and collective actions. The goal is both to seek political opportunities and address risks, and meanwhile strengthening the data infrastructure of the EPP and its member parties.
Application deadline: 10 November 2017, Friday
