Sustainable development on the local level – Study visit

The Robert Schuman Institute with the support of Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung organizes a study visit program, for local politicians of EPP member parties in Bulgaria, Croatia, Hungary, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Serbia and Ukraine. The main objective of the study visit to provide practical input to municipal policy making in terms of approaches, tools and real-life examples concerning sustainability. The event further supports international and regional cooperation by experience exchange and cross-border network building.

Dates: 4 working days as follows:

03-06 July, 2018
arrival: Tuesday, 03 July, before 11.00h
departure: Friday, 06 July, after 15.00h

held on multiple locations in Eastern Hungary, in English language


  • introducing sustainable development to political decision makers
  • sustainability and the core values of EPP: what it means practically in policy making
  • social aspects of sustainability, meeting with decision makers
  • on-site visit of functioning projects
  • models of local initiative and project development
  • introducing the complex local economy development in Hajdúnánás
  • perspectives of self-sustaining villages
  • social development based on heritage and local community

The program will be finalised also on the basis of selected participants expectations.
Please note that participants should have their international and local travel costs be paid by their delegating party or by themselves,  full-board and lodging in Hungary during the program will be covered by the organisers.
