HOW EUROPE WORKS:

A FIRST-HAND PERSPECTIVE on the EUROPEAN INSTITUTIONS 2019

We are pleased to inform that the Robert Schuman Institute (RSI), supported by the Political Academy of the Austrian People’s Party (PolAk) and the Wilfred Martens Center for European Studies (WMCES) organizes an introductory seminar (21-23 October 2019, Vienna) and a study visit (2-6 December 2019, Brussels) under the title of “How Europe Works: A First-Hand Perspective on the EU Institutions”. The series of two events will be provided for the same group of 15 people with relevant duties / functions in EPP sister parties in the following South Eastern European (SEE) countries: Albania, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Republic of North Macedonia, Kosovo, Montenegro, and Serbia.

Aims of the project:

  • To support the EU-oriented work of EPP sister parties in (potential) accession countries by capacity building
  • To familiarize participants with the fundamental values of the EPP as expressed in the new party platform, including their consequences and implications for particular policies
  • To introduce trainees to the EPP family, EPP Headquarters operations, WMCES and a member party – ÖVP
  • To provide practical and ready-to-use knowledge on the development, structure and functions of the European Union and its institutions via interactive presentations, as well as practical and realistic information on EU membership criteria
  • To give participants first-hand information and good insight into the everyday life of the EU institutions via on-site visits within the framework of the field trip to Brussels (e.g. European Parliament, EU Commission, EU Council, Committee of the Regions)
  • To strengthen ties and further develop a cross-border professional network of pro-European young people from the South Eastern European region
 

Target group:

 

15 public career-oriented people between 22 – 35 years of age, actively involved in EU-related work in EPP sister parties, selected from the above mentioned countries on the basis of individual applications recommended by relevant parties.


Dates:                              

21-23 October (Monday-Wednesday) in Vienna

arrival: 20 October, departure 24 October

2-6 December (Monday-Friday) in Brussels

arrival: 1 December, departure 6 December afternoon
