Young Leaders XXX/3: Fortifying Democracy under Aspects of Security and International Relations

Sponsored by the Eduardo Frei Foundation and the Konrad Adenauer Foundation

The series of courses was concluded with interactive lectures, workshops and on-site visits using Vienna’s unique setting that highlighted different aspects of international relations and security. Multilateralism and its challenges were discussed from different angles as the role of the UN or OSCE, nuclear non-proliferation, energy security, responding to Russia’s war on Ukraine, relations with China and Africa. Understanding the EU’s neighborhood and enlargement policies was crucial for all participants. Conflict and crisis management as well as negotiation training enriched the skill set of young leaders.

A special session reflected on the 30th anniversary edition of the series and its impact with former director Kinga Szabó.
